Major League Soccer is taking a page out of its history books as inspiration for its official match ball for the upcoming 2025 season
The league and technical partner Adidas launched the new ball on Friday, January 3. With swooping blue triangles and rounded green sections, the ball’s design borrows the colour scheme from the original logo MLS used when the league officially launched in 1995.
Rooted in history, but always looking forward, the 2025 MLS Official Match Ball celebrates the rich history of MLS and brings the league’s original colors back 30 years later.

MLS and Adidas also note that, as a further nod to the league’s history, the 2025 ball incorporates “the three most popular styles of adidas paneling and includes small details from all 18 adidas MLS balls ever made.” These include tonal patterns inside the blue and green panels like flowers and the stars and stripes from the American flag.
Different versions of the ball are available on MLSStore.com, ranging from a mini ball priced at $14.99 to an authentic pro version priced at $169.99
The 2025 MLS regular season gets underway on Saturday, February 22, with 13 matches, headlined by New York City FC visiting Inter Miami CF at 2:30 p.m. ET. Defending MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy kick off their regular season the next day by hosting expansion franchise San Diego FC.
