Britney Spears has told fans that she is in the process of writing another novel.
Taking to Instagram Stories on Tuesday, October 16, to share the news, Spears, 42, also provided a hint of what could be in store in the pages of a forthcoming book, which would serve as a follow-up to 2023’s “The Woman In Me” memoir, sharing a list of her favorite female celebrities.
“Women I genuinely admire and have crazy girl crushes on ???!!!” she wrote in a lengthy passage that occupied two Instagram Story slides. “I have girlfriends I hang out with every now and then but it’s not the same as when we were younger !!! But why isn’t it ??? I wanted to share the women who inspire me !!!”
The “Toxic” singer then listed the A-list stars, starting with “Pamela Lee Anderson,” a “classic babe and seems so sweet !!!” before moving down the list to Natalie Portman.
“I feel like she’s the coolest person I ever met outside with her dog in New York and we had the same shirt on !!!” Spears, who first hinted at a second memoir in October 2023, explained in the post.
Her next pick was Camila Cabello, “the singer because she’s so darn pretty and she makes me giggle out loud !!!” Spears expanded on her adoration for Cabello, 27, telling fans, “Her personality is so sweet and kooky I think it’s healthy to be silly … I wish I was more like that !!!”
Next on Spears’ list was Kendall Jenner. “Is it even normal to be that pretty ???” wrote Spears before the singer wrapped the list up with her final two crushes. “Geez and the other two are Selena Gomez and Drew Barrymore they’re literally gorgeous !!!” she wrote.
Spears, who mentioned how much she’s enjoying “being silly” in a Sunday, October 13, Instagram post that captured her on board a boat in a bright pink bikini, concluded her Tuesday Stories post by confirming plans to pen another book. “Honestly I have no idea why I’m writing all this !!! I’m away writing my novel and learning about myself,” she wrote. “But I do so miss being silly with the girls !!!”
Spears has released multiple books throughout her music career, including 2000’s “Heart to Heart,” written with her mother, Lynne Spears, and 2001’s “A Mother’s Gift,” also written in collaboration with Lynne.
Confirmation of her latest project comes after news of Spears’ ex Paul Richard Soliz’s estranged wife, Nicole Mancilla, filing to divorce Soliz after eight years of marriage.
Mancilla filed the documents on Wednesday, October 2, in California, according to Page Six. The paperwork cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and listed June 29, 2023 as their official date of separation.
Soliz, who was hired by Spears for maintenance work at her home in 2022 before being fired amid Spears’ split from ex-husband Sam Asghari, was linked to Spears in September 2023. Just one month prior, Asghari filed to divorce Spears, releasing a statement via Instagram Stories at the time.
“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” Asghari posted. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always.”
