USL Championship side Memphis 901 FC are ready to go with the flow with their new alternate kit honoring the Mississippi River.
The club unveiled the “River Kit” — their first cully custom alternate jersey design — earlier this month. Made by Mexican sportswear brand Charly, it features a “sublimated cartographic outline of the mighty Mississippi swooping with the Navy and Light Blue colors from 901 FC’s iconic crest,” according to a press release from the club.
The sleeves, meanwhile, feature a tonal cobblestone pattern that pay tribute to the historic Memphis Cobblestone Landings found along the banks of the river in the city.
At the bottom of the jersey, an embossed silhouette of the Hernando de Soto Bridge — also known as the “M Bridge” — which carries Interstate 40 across the Mississippi River sits on the right side. On the left side is a QR code that directs users to the donation page for Cancer Kickers Soccer Club, a non-profit organization that provides comfort, community and connections to kids fighting cancer.
The Cancer Kickers Soccer Club logo also appears on the front of the shirt. Memphis 901 FC will donate 10% of the proceeds from the sales of the River Kit to the charity.
Memphis 901 FC debuted the new kits on the pitch on Saturday, August 3, during a 0-0 draw against El Paso Locomotive FC at home.
